European Reader’s Club (ERC)

EFFECTIVE ETHNIC-CULTURAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC RECEPTION AND INTEGRATION OF MIGRANT COMMUNITIES INTO THE RECEIVING SOCIETY.

The AIM of this project is to prepare the basis for the educational activities with migrants according to the method of European Reader’s Club. Migrants, who learn about national characteristics of different countries and societies, learn also about their own cultural traits and become more aware of their national identity. On the basis of the creation of several Reader’s Clubs a platform for cooperation with migrants who reside in EU and Turkey will be developed in addition to effective exchange of cultural experiences and best practices in the field of adult education. The activities led by the project will improve the reading rates among migrants resulting in their better integration into the receiving society. Project will satisfy the intellectual aspirations of the migrants, who permanently reside outside their native country.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Boost the activeness of migrant groups in the realms of education and labor;
  • Provide materials (books, newspapers etc) for migrants in need;
  • Exchange of experiences (best practices and effective solutions) in dealing with adult education in EU and Turkey;
  • Create a sustainable and effective platform for cooperation among organizations dealing with adult education and migrants;
  • Increase labour orientation of participants;
  • Improve the participant’s knowledge of languages and ICT skills;
  • Enhance the cultural awareness of migrants;
  • Change the cultural patterns of migrants to such behavior as tolerance, openness and cooperation.

ACTIVITIES: analysis of adults’ educational organization models; questionnaire and comparative analysis of the project results; organization of meetings and study visits; preparation of publications of project materials; final conference; DVD; web-site; other project materials.

This project aims to prepare and conduct educational activities for migrants using the method of European Reader’s Club at the places of larger migrant communities. The educational activity is designed to familiarize immigrants with the cultural wealth of the country they reside and from which they originate. In this way, they get to know their own cultural characteristics and become more aware of their own national identity, dignity and cultural values. ERC aims at creation of a platform for cooperation with migrants who reside in EU and Turkey. It is important to exchange cultural experiences and best practices in adult education. The project is intended to meet the intellectual aspirations of the migrants who reside outside their home country.

The objectives of the partnership:

  • Increase activity of groups of immigrants in educational and labour realms.
  • Provision of materials (such as books, newspapers, magazines, etc.) for migrants in need.
  • Exchange of experiences (best practices and effective solutions) in the field of adult education in the EU and Turkey.
  • Creating a sustainable and effective platform for cooperation between organizations involved in adult education for migrants.
  • Increasing the orientation on the labor market among the participants. – Improve the participant’s language and literacy.
  • Increase cultural awareness of migrants.
  • Changing cultural patterns of migrants to such behaviors as tolerance, openness and cooperation.
  • Active involvement of adult volunteers in the project.

Where?

The project involves international co-operation between the EU (Poland, UK, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy) and Turkey.
